The Golden State Warriors either need to gain significant production from Andre Iguodala or put him on the trading block.
On a four-game losing streak, the Golden State Warriors need to start putting their second unit players on a short string. They’ve been too mediocre for too long, and it’s clear they’re a good part of the Dubs shortcomings.
More specifically, Andre Iguodala needs to step up. He’s been a solid contributor for quite some time. A 15-year vet, Iggy’s having arguably his worst professional season, and it’s not due to a lack of minutes.
Iggy has seen time in 17 games, including four starts. Averaging 21.8 minutes per game, Iggy struggled to find his rhythm early in the season due to injury issues. However, after a pitiful last two weeks, it’s hard to assume he’ll continue to be the contributor he once was.
Over the Dubs last eight games, which also include all four of Iggy’s starts, they are an eye-opening 2-6. It’d been over half a decade since the Warriors were beaten four straight times.

While they clearly miss Curry and Green, who have both been injured for a chunk of those eight games, they also need some type of production from Iggy. He’s scored just 56 points in those seven games, playing almost 25 minutes per game.
Overall, Iggy has averaged under five points per game this season, his lowest as a pro. He’s also shooting a career low.
Not known as a scorer, Iggy has averaged just 3.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists in those minutes. With Iggy on the court, the Dubs have a 112 defensive rating and a -2 net rating.
While not a fan of trading meaningful veteran contributors, with Cousins return in the next month or so, the need for Iggy will be at an all-time low.
Additionally, it’d help the Warriors financially to part ways with the forward. He’s set to make over $17 million next season, and his production certainly hasn’t matched that large payout. That said, the Dubs could find a new home for Iggy while freeing up cap space for next season.
If they rid themselves of his contract, they would have a much better chance at retaining both Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson, a site all Warrior fans would love to see.
However, with Iggy, it starts with his play on the court. He needs to pick it up and do more or potentially face the consequences.
