Despite a recent slump, the Golden State Warriors should still be the heavy favorites to finish the season as NBA champions once again.

The Golden State Warriors appeared to have hit a wall last week. For the first time in the Steve Kerr era, the Warriors actually looked vulnerable in the regular season. After they recently dropped an unprecedented four games in a row, everyone began to worry about the Dubs.

The Warriors played poorly over the stretch of these four games. A number of blow out losses served as a severe blow to the Dubs reputation. In addition to losing, the team chemistry was hanging by a thread with constant tension from the Draymond Green/Kevin Durant altercation.

The media relentlessly questioned the team and the players didn’t do much to calm the fire. Durant’s brother even posted a few questionable things on social media that further stirred the controversy surrounding KD’s impending free agency.

The Warriors actually looked like they could be nearing the end of their dynasty days. The likelihood of Durant leaving after the season seemed higher than ever and the Dubs appeared to be beatable. In spite of all of this, the Warriors should not be counted out in the slightest.

A little bit of controversy was bound to occur at some point with this team. The combination of five All-Star players is something that has never happened on the same NBA team and managing to keep the locker room happy for the entirety of a season just isn’t realistic. There was going to be an altercation between players eventually.

It’s actually a good thing that the Warriors are experiencing this slump right now. It’s better for them to struggle at the start of the season rather than later in the year. If they can overcome the obstacles in front of them now, it will make them stronger for the future.

Sure, the Warriors haven’t looked as impressive as some other NBA teams this season. But, I would still put my money on the Dubs figuring this thing out and winning the championship.
