JR Smith

JR Smith’s teammate, Kyle Korver, was just traded, but it’s Smith who has actually requested a trade. He wants nothing to do with an all-out rebuild, and that is exactly what the Cleveland Cavaliers may have brewing.

Smith, like Korver, is a phenomenal three-point shooter. Albeit Smith isn’t quite as accurate as Korver, he’s proven to be more impactful against the league’s top opponents. This season hasn’t been one of Smith’s best though, hurting his already-depleted value.

He’s averaging just 6.7 points per game on under 35% from the field in eleven games so far this season.

Starting just four, Smith hasn’t showcased the type of talent that warrants a trade. Combine that with his less-than-stellar contract, and it’ll be interesting to see if he can draw any trade interest.

Smith would help the Warriors bench. And, he would help their salary cap with just under $5 million guaranteed for next season. It’s doubtful trading for Smith is a route the Dubs would want to go down unless they feel their second unit is far more depleted than many believe.
