The Agua Caliente Clippers hand the Santa Cruz Warriors their first lost for the season
In the sports world, all good streaks must come to an end. Last night was the end of the great streak for the Santa Cruz Warriors as they lost their first game for the season after starting 8-0.
The challenger the Agua Caliente Clippers, the G-League affiliate for the L.A. Clippers were no joke against the Santa Cruz Warriors from the jump as they got the 103-84 win.
On today’s edition of TimeOut, I am going to point out some of the unusual occurrences that happened in their first loss of the season.
Seven players had less than ten points.
Two players scored one point in the loss: Juan Toscano and Jaleel Cousins. Both Cousins and Toscano made their one and only point at the free throw line.
Star Marcus Derrickson was 22% from the field. Deyonta Davis was four of ten from the field on his way to eight points. Alen Smailagic was -12 for the night scoring 2-for-7 from the field and scoreless from three-point range.
Kevin Young and Will Cherry both scored seven points for the night. Young was almost perfect from the free throw line (3-of-5) and 33.3% from the field while Cherry was three of fourteen from the field, making only one three while dishing out two assists and grabbing two rebounds.
Kendrick Nunn was the only player on the Santa Cruz Warriors squad to score 20+ point in the loss with 24 points.
It was a less than ideal night offensively for the Sea Dubs for the most part. However, it is too early to push the panic button.
