No 30+ fourth-quarter magic

Just as the Golden State Warriors demolish teams in the third quarter last season, the Sea Dubs so far usually seal their victory with a thirty-point fourth quarter. Currently, they are +1.4 in the fourth quarter, shooting 47.2% from the field and 36.4% from three.

However, they only scored 24 points in the fourth quarter. Although that may not seem as bad in order to continue winning the Santa Cruz Warriors have to push the pace and get as many points as possible in the fourth quarter regardless of the opponent.

One area where the Sea Dubs have to improve on is having more turnovers but also scoring at a high rate. Yes, you read right.

More turnovers=a higher chance of getting a win

The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.

Some games the Golden State Warriors hardly take care of the ball, have multiple back to back turnovers but still get the win. The Santa Cruz Warriors are currently averaging 17.3 turnovers per game which may seem to be bad but those turnovers were apart of the 8-0 record they had.

The Warriors only turned the ball over twelve times against the Clippers which was ideal but that still resulted in a loss. The solution is the turnover problem is simple: avoid unnecessary passes when pushing the pace and score more points off the opponent’s turnovers.

The last time the Clippers and Warriors met prior to last Monday’s matchup the Warriors scored four points off the Clippers’ fifteen turnovers. Last Monday, the Clippers made twenty-one points off Santa Cruz’s twelve turnovers while the Warriors scored eight points off the Clippers’ twenty-eight turnovers. Something definitely fans should pay attention to.

Despite last Monday’s performance, the Warriors still top the standings.

The challenge is not getting another 8-0 record, the challenge is remaining consistent and improving regardless of fatigue, complacency, call-ups and assignments as the season progress. This was an issue last season. When Quinn Cook got assigned the Warriors, it was not hard to recognize the lack of energy from the Sea Dubs.

They quickly adjusted to that problem this season because the team has not missed a step when Lee and Derrickson are assigned to the Golden State Warriors. Hopefully this continues.
