Stephen Curry, the Golden State Warriors superstar point guard, has a top-ten NBA fanbase, according to FanSided’s Fandom 250.

The rankings included both team fanbases and individual player fanbases. Stephen Curry came in at No. 6 among NBA-related fanbases. FanSided’s Fandom 250 ranks the top fanbases from TV shows to sports players and teams to musical artists and much more.

The Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Lakers, Boston Celtics, Philadelphia 76ers and LeBron James rounding out the top five NBA-related fanbases in respective order. Russell Westbrook and Joel Embiid were the only other two NBA players ranked, coming in at 215 and 149.

My only question is: Why isn’t Curry higher?

A superstar, two-time MVP, and three-time Finals champion, Curry has reinvented the game of basketball. Taking the league into more of a three-point dominant era, Curry’s fan base is among the most devoted in all the league.

This season, Curry’s giving his fans something they haven’t seen since his unanimous MVP campaign in 2015.

Although injured for a handful of games, Curry is averaging 29.4 points per game, the most since that MVP season. On top of that, he’s averaging 5.1 threes per game, the exact same as that spectacular year.

As for his fandom, FanSided outlined Curry’s legacy and how his fans will remember him.

"The Steph Curry fandom as we know it today grew alongside the explosion of Golden State Warriors fans, given that Curry is a huge part of the appeal and success of the Warriors as a team. Still, Curry has always meant far more to his fandom than just the on-court magic that seduced many a Steph stan. Certainly, his talent, handles and unprecedented shooting have endeared many a basketball fan to the two-time league MVP. His impact on fans playing the game on playgrounds and college courts is already eminently visible and No. 30 topped the list of most-sold jerseys for the third straight year. But the Curry fandom thrives so passionately because he’s also deeply likable as a celebrity, sports figure and role model. That spirit, too, is a part of his fandom’s legacy."

The story of Stephen Curry and the devotion he’s showed to the game of basketball should be at the top of a long list of reasons to be a fan of the 30-year-old.  Along with Curry, both his daughter, Riley, and wife, Ayesha, have been in the mainstream media over the last few years.

Next. 3 players the Warriors should trade this season. dark

The fandom behind the entire Curry family has evolved just like the Warriors fandom as a whole.
