Hypothetical No. 2

In this proposal, Ariza is traded to Golden State for Jacob Evans, Andre Iguodala and a future second-round pick. This seems like a deal both sides would consider, especially since Golden State must free up cap to retain both Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson next season.

This deal would allow Jacob Evans an organization where he can get time and develop. When the Dubs were on the come up, they could expend 30 minutes a night to Steph, Klay and Draymond. Now a top team, they can’t do the same for their rookies and second-year players like Jordan Bell.

While Bell has shown promise, why continue to hang onto Evans if it’s likely he won’t get many minutes. It seems similar to the Patrick McCaw situation that drove him away from the team after just two years.

The other aspects of the trade are similar to the first hypothetical. The Dubs send away a pick, yet they retain their 2019 first-round pick. It’s obvious the team isn’t seeking help or they’d have dealt that pick already.

This trade is about the future. The Dubs, while minimal, would drop Evans contract as well. Both Evans and Iggy leaving the team could open up more money for the stars, which is exactly what Golden State must do to retain their four stars.

These deals aren’t likely, but they certainly are possible.
