Golden State Warriors: Jason Terry would ‘answer the phone’ for Dubs
Retired veteran sharpshooter Jason Terry said he would answer the phone if the Golden State Warriors called him. Should they?
The Golden State Warriors have one roster remaining. Patrick McCaw, JaVale McGee and Nick Young all opted not to rejoin the team, leaving that spot vacant. Should Jason Terry be given that spot though?
Per ESPN’s Tim MacMahon, Terry would consider coming out of retirement if any of these three teams gave him a call.
Playing last with the Bucks last season, Terry’s opted not to return to a team that won’t give him a chance at winning a championship, aside from the Mavericks who are beloved by Terry.

Last season Terry was incredible average though. He played 51 games in Milwaukee, starting just four. Scoring just 3.3 points per game, Terry really didn’t showcase any skill set that makes him a desirable target for these championship-caliber teams.
After nearly averaging 20 points per game back in the early 00’s, Terry has steadily declined. Now 41, The Jet would return as one of the league’s oldest players. While his numbers don’t back signing him, the leadership and shooting he brings could warrant the Dubs reaching out.
The Warriors have one of the worst shooting second units. Averaging the 27th most three-point field goals per game of any second unit, the Warriors have not held up their standards throughout their entire team.
Terry helping the bench shoot better isn’t exactly an ideal situation though. He averaged 0.8 threes per game and just 1.8 per 36 minutes. On top of that, he shot under 35% from downtown, a percentage that certainly wouldn’t fly in Golden State.
So, while the Dubs could reach out and bring Terry out of retirement, why do so? Is he really that much better than any elite G-League scorer they could also sign? If it’s just for leadership, that’s a different story, but do the Warriors, after four straight Finals runs, need additional leadership?
As of now, this team isn’t in need of Terry, but if a few unfortunate injuries occur, that could be completely flipped.
