5. Kemba Walker

Kemba Walker has a few things in common with Stephen Curry. For starters, he plays for Curry’s hometown team, the Charlotte Hornets. Furthermore, Walker has a similar build to Curry, as both are shorter and scrawnier than most other players.

Despite their lack of size or strength, Curry and Walker both excel at finishing around the rim and using their elite ball handling to create separation on jump shots. The only difference being that Kemba’s handlers are more herky-jerky and unorthodox, while Curry’s are a bit more smooth. Regardless, both are extremely effective.

Where Walker begins to take huge inspiration from Curry is the trend behind his 3-point shooting. Since the 2015-16 season, Curry’s historic MVP season, Walker has been rapidly increasing his 3-point attempts.

In 2016, Kemba took an average of 6.0 3-pointers a game. Now, Walker is averaging 9.2 attempts per game from beyond the arc. He is currently third in the league for 3-point field goal attempts and has made the fourth most 3-pointers this season.

While Walker is very much his own player, he has clearly adjusted his game to prioritize 3-point shooting more than ever, which is more than likely a direct result of Curry’s influence on the league.
