1. Trae Young

The rookie, Trae Young, is by far the most similar to Stephen Curry. Young’s game is nearly identical to Curry’s. There is no question that Trae took direct inspiration from Steph as he was growing up and learning the game.

The similarities first became noticeable during his college days. In his only season with the Oklahoma Sooners, Young averaged 27.4 points and 8.7 assists per game. He attempted a wild 10.3 3-pointers a game and was a prolific shooter from deep.

Young wasted no time trying to make a statement in the NBA. So far this season, Trae is attempting 5.4 shots a game from beyond the arc, making him only the 15th player in NBA history to attempt more than 5 a game in his rookie season.

Trae shows absolutely no fear in pulling up from deep. He has attempted a league-high 27 shots from 30+ feet or beyond. This makes his shot selection very questionable at times and has put his shooting percentage at just 24.1 percent from the 3-point line.

However, Young has the green light to continue shooting this shots, because that is the type of style that Curry has made acceptable in the NBA. Young is allowed to play this way because Curry made it fashionable.

On the bright side, Trae has used his shooting to at least create plays for his teammates. Much like Steph, Trae is able to draw in defenders and find open teammates. Once he begins to knock down shots more consistently, he will truly look like Curry 2.0.
