2. Rebounding/Pace

An important thing to watch during this game will be how both teams rebound and what pace they choose to play at.

The Los Angeles Lakers currently play at the fourth-highest pace in the league, while the Golden State Warriors rank 10th. The Lakers also score an average of 20.2 fast break points a game while the Warriors score 17.1. Both teams are in the top-five for fast break scoring.

The pace in this game will be interesting because, in the past, LeBron James led teams have been most successful against the Warriors when they slow down the pace and grind it out. Pounding the ball in the post and playing half-court offense has been the key to beating the Warriors and will likely be a component of the Lakers game plan. They simply don’t want this to turn into a shootout.

The rebounding battle will be a huge factor in determining the pace that these teams play at. If one team gets dominated on the glass then they will probably control the pace as well. If the Dubs manage to win the rebounding match then they can force the action and push the tempo. In contrast, LA will look to secure the ball and avoid giving any second chance opportunities.
