Golden State Warriors: 6 trading partners for Draymond Green
By Tony Pesta
4. Miami Heat
Since LeBron James left in 2014, the Miami Heat have been steadily rebuilding their squad. With pieces like Josh Richardson, Justise Winslow, Tyler Johnson and Hassan Whiteside, it seems like the Heat have done a decent job.
In the 2015-16 season, Miami fell one game short of reaching the Eastern Conference Finals. Since then, the team has made the playoffs only one time and was bounced in five games by the Philadelphia 76ers.
Seeing Green in a situation where he is one of the main options on a team would be very interesting. Dray would be given a type of freedom that he has never had before. It’s possible that he could bloom into a prolific player that stuffs the stat sheet every night.
In contrast, it’s possible that Green could crash and burn with this type of responsibility. In this case, the Miami Heat wouldn’t be in too bad of a position, as they would likely find themselves as a lottery team in next seasons highly anticipated draft.
Being a lottery team is something that would actually be a positive for Miami. They have been stuck in the middle of the pack for years now. They are too competitive to receive the awards that come from being a horrible team. By finally securing a highly coveted draft pick, the team might be able to draft a future franchise player.
Regardless of whether or not Green thrives with the Heat, Miami would end up in a good place. Which is all any team can ask for.
