He’s unneeded and adding him might hurt already-damaged chemistry

The Golden State Warriors a top-three team in the Western Conference, but after losing two straight, one of which was by 26 points to the LA Lakers on Christmas Day, things aren’t feeling as merry as they should be.

Bringing back McCaw could create even more of a rift in the Warriors chemistry. If McCaw’s addition would make the Dubs a significantly better team, then, sure, it’d be worth the risk. However, he makes them marginally better if better at all.

McCaw, who is a lengthy 6-foot-7, was the Dubs backup shooting guard last season. This season, they’ve added Alfonzo McKinnie. Playing well, there’s no reason to lower McKinnie’s minutes for a player like McCaw.

This season, McKinnie who was a training camp addition has averaged 5.6 points and 3.9 rebounds per game. He’s shooting almost 40% from downtown and has been a solid addition for a team lacking a consistently scoring bench unit.

McKinnie’s addition and ensuing eruption has made bringing back McCaw not necessary for Golden State. Combine being unneeded with potentially hurting the team’s chemistry, and it’s obvious that matching that offer sheet clearly isn’t the move.

That’s not all though.
