Damian Jones

The Warriors made it a goal to get younger all around the roster where they could, but especially at the center position. By letting the likes of David West, JaVale McGee, and Zaza Pachulia walk they opened the door for Damian Jones to finally get some valuable playing time on an NBA court.

He got more than just playing time, he actually was the Warriors’ starting center at the beginning of the season. While he showed flashes of his athletic potential, he ultimately struggled against the league’s more talented centers. His season came to end with a pectoral injury suffered in the loss to the Detroit Pistons earlier this season.

Jones is already under contract for next season, and his rehab will be closely monitored as he’ll look to have a role with the team next year (whether that is a starting role remains to be seen). Golden State wants to get young at the center position, but next season might be Jones’ final shot at proving his worth.
