The Golden State Warriors have been linked to Anthony Davis, but can they put together a realistic package for the superstar center?

The Golden State Warriors would be interested in trading for Anthony Davis, according to ESPN Zach Lowe.

"The Warriors have been publicly linked to Davis before — and would surely be interested, sources say — but it’s hard to find a realistic path ahead of next season."

However, that trade is much harder to craft than many think. Even theoretical trades are difficult for an elite talent like Davis. While every team should be interested in trading for Davis, not many have the sheer star power to trade away like Golden State.

In the midst of their worst season in the last four years, are they prepared to take arguably a gigantic horizontal step in trading for Davis? The Dubs also have to consider how a trade for Davis could increase or decrease their chances of retaining Klay Thompson and Kevin Durant.

Overall, if you can get a player like Anthony Davis, you do it. Obviously, Durant and Curry will likely be staying put, but players like Klay, Draymond Green, DeMarcus Cousins and every single young talent for the Warriors could be up for grabs.

Davis, whose name will become a much hotter topic as the February 7 trade deadline nears, hasn’t seemed eager to leave New Orleans, but as the Pelicans continue to dip in the standings, the likelihood of trading Davis will continue to rise.
