Trade No. 6

The Miami Heat struggled to include Josh Richardson in any deal involving Jimmy Butler. If this proposal were on Pat Riley‘s desk, would he make the same decision twice? Richardson is the key to this trade.

For the Pelicans, the idea should be appealing. They are able to snag cap space by dealing Davis and would then be able to re-sign Cousins this coming offseason while gaining what many consider an elite young talent. That seems to be exactly what they’re asking for.

Golden State does this deal for the same reason they do any trade, Anthony Davis.

Davis is a monster on both the offensive and defensive end. He’s the only player to average over 2.0 blocks and 1.5 steals per game. He’s also the only player to average over 28 points and 13 rebounds per game.

Davis is having a career year, and the Dubs must do whatever it takes to snag the big man.

For the Heat, they get the opportunity to lure Thompson to Miami. A big market for free agents, Miami would have a good chance to re-sign Thompson in the offseason, increasing their likelihood of trading for him.

All-in-all, this doesn’t seem like a bad deal for any of the three sides as long as Thompson stays in Miami.
