Trade No. 5

The second of three three-team trades, this one seems like another all-around win. The Warriors get Anthony Davis, the Pelicans get Russell, Allen and Cousins and the Nets would snag Klay Thompson.

The Nets extended Spencer Dinwiddie a few weeks ago to a tune of three years, $34 million.

That extension seemingly locked him up as the Nets’ guard of the future. D’Angelo Russell is no longer needed, and this trade allows him a new home and gives Brooklyn another piece to help them contend.

For Brooklyn, they give away a young stud in Jarrett Allen, but snagging a four-time All-Star and an all-time great shooter has to be worth it. Brooklyn, with the cap space they’ll have this offseason, should be able to offer Klay a max contract.

A young, talented load and Boogie Cousins is what the Pelicans would get in return. It’s unlikely the Pelicans do this deal just because of not having elite young talent. Allen is not Donavon Mitchell, and without a Mitchell-like player, the Pelicans may not deal Davis.

Overall, Brooklyn and Golden State should do this deal with ease. Would New Orleans deal their star for only players and no picks though?
