The Golden State side of the deal

Clearly struggling to find their identity this season, the Golden State Warriors could use trading two stars for one elite superstar. Plus, the team would likely do anything, outside of trading Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry, to begin in Anthony Davis.

It’s difficult to trade Klay Thompson, who is averaging 20+ points per game for the fifth consecutive season. However, trading away both Thompson and Green would allow the Dubs cap space to re-sign Kevin Durant.

It’s crucial that the team also receives Wayne Ellington. Ellington is averaging 2.3 threes per game and, while not as efficient as Thompson, could replace some of his lost three-point shooting production.

Anthony Davis’ impact can’t go under the radar either. His presence would make the Dubs the most feared team in the NBA if they aren’t already. Davis is a monster on both the offensive and defense end, but on the Pelicans, currently 14th in the West, his talent might not see the postseason.

Also, Davis and Cousins, teammates on the Pelicans last season, had a defensive rating of under 102 when the duo was on the court together. The Dubs defense wouldn’t take a hit by adding Davis and already having Cousins at center.
