The New Orleans side of the deal

Obviously, it’s not ideal that the New Orleans Pelicans want to trade Anthony Davis, but while he’s still got a few years on his contract, he’s extremely valuable. It’s unlikely Davis puts up with the Pelicans’ awful play much longer.

Davis has recently said he’d “take legacy over money” and that the potential supermax extension he can sign won’t play a factor in deciding where he heads next. Those are two huge statements that showcase how the 25-year-old views his future in the NBA.

That said, if Davis is eventually going to leave, might as well get excellent value for him. Two first-round picks and Bradley Beal is quite a load. Beal, who is having the best season of his career, is one of the league’s most dysfunctional franchises, the Washington Wizards.

Averaging over 23 points per game, Beal seems ready to take the next step in his game. Beal and Pelicans’ star Jrue Holiday would be one of the league’s best backcourts. While also 25, Beal is about 110 days younger than Davis and is still developing his game.

An All-Star talent and two first-round picks might be the best trade New Orleans could get for Davis.
