Draymond Green has been selected to three consecutive All-Star teams during his career with the Golden State Warriors. Will he continue the streak this year?

The Golden State Warriors have seen many All-Star players suit up for them in recent years. Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Kevin Durant headline their star-studded roster. However, one player, Draymond Green, has been considered a borderline All-Star since his first selection in 2016.

Green is an interesting player for a few reasons. He doesn’t put up All-Star numbers in any single statistic category but has made a name for himself by being well versed in every aspect of the game.

He isn’t an exciting player that can explode for 50+ points. In fact, he has only scored above 30 points three times in his seven-year career.

No, where Green shines is his ability to impact the game at an above-average rate in multiple ways. In his three All-Star seasons, Dray has averaged a combined 11.8 points, 8.4 rebounds, 7.2 assists, 1.6 steals and 1.4 blocks per game.

None of his statistics are eye-popping by themselves. However, when thrown all together it is obvious that Green is a jack-of-all-trades. A player that can score at a decent clip, rebound the ball, create plays and play elite defense is extremely valuable.

On many occasions, Green has been credited as the heart and soul of the Golden State Warriors. His fire on the court is something that helps motivate the entire squad and they feed off of his energy.

While Dray has certainly been deserving of an All-Star selection in previous years, this season may be different. Green is not playing up to par at all and has actually hurt the team in a few instances. His poor 23.7 percent shooting from the 3-point line has registered him ineffective offensively.

Furthermore, he has been far from dominant on the defensive end. Green has rarely made his presence felt on defense this year and opponents are making it a point to attack him. The most notable instance of this came recently when James Harden drilled the game-winning shot over Green and followed it up with some choice words directed at Draymond.

It’s no secret that Green has had a down year. It’s quite possible that this is simply a slump and he will return to normal form soon. However, with his current level of play, I am doubtful Green will make it to the All-Star game this season.
