Kevin Durant’s upcoming free agency will be a hot topic all year. Will he stay with the Golden State Warriors or sign with another team?
When Kevin Durant signed with the Golden State Warriors in 2016, one of the first questions that many asked was “How long will this last?”. I mean, the league has never seen two MVP players (Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant) in their prime join forces on a team that was fresh off of a 73 win regular season. How long could any franchise keep multiple superstars satisfied?
Well, here we are, nearly three years later and the Warriors are still kicking. Except, something has definitely changed since their first run together in the 2016-17 season. The Dubs no longer look like they are the undisputed champs but rather just another competitive team in a loaded conference.
Of course, Golden State still has enough star power to scare away any team. With DeMarcus Cousins gearing up for his debut, the Dubs could transform into a five-headed monster overnight.
However, will their success this season have any effect on Durant’s looming free agency decision? Is there anything the Warriors can do to secure another contract with KD or does he already have on foot out the door?
Regardless of whether or not Durant remains a Warriors past this season, it’s time to examine some of the most likely landing spots for the two-time Finals MVP. We are going to count down the 10 teams with the best chance of signing Kevin Durant.
