5. Los Angeles Lakers

LeBron James has undoubtedly been Kevin Durant’s biggest rival throughout his 12 season career. The two have battled for multiple different MVP awards and have clashed in the NBA Finals three times. As of now, Durant has gained the advantage in their Finals meetings by winning 2 of their three matchups.

However, James has been anything but a pushover. In the last two Finals, James averaged a combined 33.8 points, 10.3 rebounds, and 10 assists on 54.6 percent shooting from the field. Now, with the Los Angeles Lakers, James is attempting to build a squad worthy of taking down Durant and the Golden State Warriors.

Because of this, it is possible that KD might jump on the bandwagon and ride the wave to success. Durant has shown that he has no problem with doing this in the past and could value the chance of winning more championships over that of his reputation which has already taken a big hit.

Going to the Lakers would essentially be Durant embracing the villain role. This move is controversial enough to anger a large portion of NBA fans, but it would definitely help Durant accumulate more rings.
