The addition of DeMarcus Cousins to the Golden State Warriors has given them the most lethal starting lineup of all-time.

It’s honestly not even close. The Golden State Warriors have the league’s best starting lineup. The only team even close to the Warriors is the Boston Celtics, and even then, the margin is wide. How do they compare with all-time great lineups though?

The teams that to come to mind are the Larry Bird-led Celtics, the Michael Jordan-led Bulls and the Kobe Bryant-led Lakers. The one thing that all those teams are missing is a fourth and fifth star.

Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’ Neal were the only two stars, but their team was void of another star. In that day, the two were powerful enough to win the NBA Finals, but they clearly weren’t flush with elite talent like the Warriors are.

Even the Michael Jordan-led Bulls were dominant, winning three straight titles, but they weren’t laced with the depth of talent like Golden State is. What they did have is the best player to ever pick up a basketball, Michael Jordan.

Jordan, by himself, made the team legendary. Even with Pippen, Rodman and Kerr, the team didn’t pose the same threat as Golden State does.

Kerr isn’t on the same level as the Warriors secondary sharpshooter Klay Thompson. Rodman certainly isn’t the same offensive distributor as Draymond Green, and the Bulls have no one even close to Stephen Curry.

The Warriors have five true stars, including two widely-recognized superstars. Prior to his injury, Cousins was also oftentimes noted as a top-ten player in the league; however, his injury has taken him down a notch, or at least it’s expected to in the long run.

All five of the Warriors starters were Western Conference All-Stars in 2019.

Against the Clippers, we didn’t see that dynamic, terrifying lineup that we hoped we would see. The chemistry will take time though, and with five stars, it’s hard to space out and get each the offensive touches they deserve.

It’s no question that they’re overall the best NBA lineup to ever take the court.
