The deal was on the table, and the Milwaukee Bucks medical staff helped the Golden State Warriors not make the biggest mistake in franchise history.

The Golden State Warriors almost traded two-time MVP Stephen Curry back in 2012, just a few years after the point guard had entered the league.

However, their medical team wasn’t keen on the numerous ankle injuries Curry had at that point in time. While they’ve certainly been an issue over the course of the last decade, Curry has fought through them and continues to come out on top.

That trade could’ve ended the Warriors’ dynasty before it had even begun. Apparently, the deal was on the table, but Curry’s injuries concerns made the Bucks back out.

"“I don’t know if they can be light years ahead if they traded Stephen Curry to the Bucks for Andrew Bogut,” Lasry told Frank Isola of The Atheltic. “That was the deal. But the Bucks’ medical staff didn’t think Steph’s ankle would hold up. That killed the deal. So, I don’t know if that’s being light years. It’s luck. And that’s fine.”Lasry then smiled and added, “I think we got rid of that medical staff when we bought the team.”"

The deal was there. While some pieces may have been left out, the meat of the deal was Andrew Bogut for Stephen Curry. That deal fell out and thankfully so. In addition to Stephen Jackson, the Warriors did eventually obtain Andrew Bogut, who went downhill upon his arrival in the Bay.

Now out of the league, the seven-foot center almost flipped the NBA as we know it. Would the eruption of Stephen Curry still be as prominent without the Warriors’ development process? There are several question marks surrounding how the NBA might have turned out following this trade.

Luckily, we don’t have to think of that. All we have to do is be thankful that the Bucks medical staff decided then 24-year-old wasn’t healthy enough for their liking.

The league’s only unanimous MVP, Stephen Curry, has transcended the NBA as we know it. The star has created a new generation of players shooting half and yelling ‘Curry’ in their Warriors’ jersey.

That might’ve all been different if this trade had gone through.
