8. Los Angeles Lakers

The Los Angeles Lakers are facing a ton of pressure right now. While signing LeBron James is a home run in every way, the tension that comes with the signing of a player of his magnitude is serious. The window for success may only be open for a few seasons and the Lakers front office knows this.

This season is basically a glorified tryout. The Lakers young squad will be tested relentlessly as the James and the front office work out who is worthy of competing for a championship. By the end of the year, it is very likely that LA goes all out on bringing in free agents. If they fail to attract any talent, a last-second trade may come into play.

This is where Golden State could sneak in to swipe a number of the Lakers assets away. Los Angeles might be willing to deal Brandon IngramKentavious Caldwell-Pope and a 2021 first round pick for Kevin Durant.

The Lakers would obviously be gutting a large chunk of their youth with this exchange, but pairing the two best players in the world next to each other is almost sure to be a deadly combination. James and Durant would have everything they needed to bring another title to Los Angeles.
