The Golden State Warriors have had Kevin Durant for just over two and a half seasons. This season’s Durant has been the best the Warriors have ever seen.
A legitimate MVP threat, the Golden State Warriors are reigning over the Western Conference partially because of Kevin Durant. He’s been dominant this season, becoming an all-around elite playmaking threat.
Averaging 28.0 points per game, Durant is averaging his most points as a Warrior. However, it’s not just scoring that’s brought Durant’s game to the next level. He’s also averaging a career-high in assists per game at 6.0, showcasing how well he’s evolved as a distributor as well as a world-class scorer.
Having played in all 47 games for the Warriors, Durant has scored 20 or more points in twenty straight games, a streak that is currently his longest during his stay in the Bay, and it’s still going!
Consistently dominant nicely describes how Durant has played his season.
While during that 20-game stretch Durant hasn’t erupted for 40+, the streak itself truly says something about how dominant he has become even scoring such a high amount for so many straight games.
Surprisingly, Durant’s efficiency is actually down this season. What is up is his aggression though. He’s averaging over seven free throw attempts per game, a total which is the highest it has been for Durant in over half a decade.
Not known as a triple-double machine, Durant has also tallied two triples doubles this season. His work all-around the court has made him an ideal superstar to pair with Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson.
Durant is unselfish as well. A four-time scoring champion has become the No. 1 option on a team that’s won back-to-back championships. He’s proven all he needed to when he promised to join the team that went 73-9 the season prior to his arrival.
Currently, on an eight-game winning streak, the Warriors continue to display their superstar talent. With DeMarcus Cousins returning, the Warriors have the ability to reach yet another level both offensively and defensively.
None other this, not even the signing of Kevin Durant, likely happens if he doesn’t accept more of a backseat role on the Warriors. Having his best season in the Bay, Durant continues to shine on a team where many get buried in the vast array of star talent.
