NBA Trade Deadline: 29 hypothetical trades for the Golden State Warriors’ Draymond Green

Detroit Pistons

The Golden State Warriors would trade Draymond Green to the Pistons in this scenario, then allowing the Pistons to deal Andre Drummond while he still has peak value.

They’d in return get Jon Leuer to replace Green’s production, a young shooting guard in Luke Kennard and a 2020 first-round pick. It would save them a good bit of cap space for this upcoming offseason while bringing in what could potentially be a lottery pick and a future All-Star.

The Pistons one strength in their frontcourt, so if they were to trade for Green, they’d have to have another deal set up sending away Blake Griffin or Andre Drummond. It’d make no sense for them to keep three All-Star-caliber big men.

Detroit likely wants to buy into Griffin as their future, and with him leading the ship, Green’s ability to defend and distribute would complement Griffin’s offensive skill set as well. However, like aforementioned, there would have to be a trade in place for Drummond prior to this deal.

If they could find a new home for Drummond, this deal becomes significantly more realistic.
