With a victory over the Boston Celtics, Steve Kerr of the Golden State Warriors became the fastest coach in NBA history to reach 300 wins.

Steve Kerr has been coaching at a legendary pace. Becoming the head coach of the Golden State Warriors in the 2014-15 season, Kerr wasted no time reaching an elite level. Since he has been the head coach, the Warriors and Kerr have experienced a massive amount of success.

When the Warriors elected to part ways with their former head coach, Mark Jackson, many believed the franchise had made a vital mistake. Jackson had helped develop the likes of Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson. With Jackson, the Warriors reached the NBA playoffs twice and were looking like an extremely promising young team.

Then, after a tough seven-game series versus the Los Angeles Clippers in which the Warriors were defeated, Jackson lost his job. Though this decision was controversial, it was clear that the front office believed that Jackson wasn’t able to take the team to the heights they wanted to reach.

Thus, Steve Kerr was hired and began his first season as an NBA head coach. In his first year with the Warriors, the team won 67 games and Curry took his game to new levels, winning the MVP award. At the end of the year, the Dubs were crowned as NBA champions.

Next season, Kerr and the Warriors once again had a superb campaign. Golden State won an NBA record 73 regular season games and fell one game short of another title.

After signing Kevin Durant in the 2016 offseason, Kerr was facing one of the biggest challenges of his career. Not many coaches in history have been able to keep that many superstar egos in check. Kerr would have to hold a tight leash on these stars to make sure the team remained balanced.

Luckily, the Warriors displayed no issues. Together, they stormed through the league and won the 2017 NBA championship. They followed this performance up with a sweep in the 2018 NBA Finals to capture their third ring in four seasons.

Now, Kerr stands with an all-time great record of 300-77. He is the fasted coach to ever reach the 300 win mark and shows no sign of slowing down this historic pace.
