For Thompson, this is a huge moment. Early on during the season, he was struggling mightily, especially from three. He has turned it on lately on both sides of his game, which has also elevated the Warriors level of play.
Thompson, despite struggling early on during the season was still a no-doubter to make it to the All-Star game. He is a franchise cornerstone for the Warriors, and he would be a franchise player for any other team in the league.
Thompson joins his Warriors teammates — Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant for the All-Star game in Charlotte, North Carolina.
There has been quite the controversy surrounding Thompson lately. The shooting guard reportedly claimed that he’d be interested in joining the Lakers this offseason if he was not maxed by the Warriors.
Durant and Thompson could shake up the Warriors roster in 2020. They’ll both be up for new contracts and could completely destroy the team’s dynasty. On the other hand, they could continue to keep the dynasty going strong if they decided to return.
The Warriors will only have space for one max contract. It might be Klay Thompson, it might be Kevin Durant. At the end of the day, we’ll have to wait till June to see what the Golden State Warriors will do regarding their free-agent superstars.
