The NBA trade deadline is less than a week away. Will the Golden State Warriors make any moves?

Every year the NBA trade deadline is a highly anticipated moment in the season. In some years, the trade deadline is filled with blockbuster trades that shake the entire league. In contrast, sometimes the deadline comes and goes with no major moves being made. Where will the Golden State Warriors land on the spectrum this season?

The Warriors have remained relatively quiet in the trade market recently. The last trade the Warriors made was two years ago when they paid cash in exchange for the rights to Jordan Bell. The last time a player was traded away from the Warriors was July 15, 2015, when David Lee was sent to the Boston Celtics in exchange for a few other players.

So, it’s clear that the Warriors front office has been moving with an “If it ain’t broke don’t fix it” mentality. And there is no reason as to why they shouldn’t be thinking this way. The Warriors have experienced more success than any other team this decade and are on pace for even more championships.

With a strong core of Kevin Durant, Klay Thompson, Stephen Curry, Draymond Green and DeMarcus Cousins, the Warriors don’t need to trade for a superstar. Furthermore, experienced veterans such as Andre Iguodala and Shaun Livingston have gotten the job done for years now and likely don’t need to be replaced.

However, Durant, Thompson and Cousins could all be leaving in free agency this summer. Does this mean that the Warriors should consider trading one of these guys?

The answer here is obviously no. It would be an incredibly risky move to trade any of their core members. Sure, they could get a sizeable return for any of these stars, but it is not worth missing out on a chance to win an NBA championship. The window for success in the NBA is small and the Dubs should be embracing every moment they have to compete.

There is nothing forcing the Dubs to make a trade. Because of this, I expect the Warriors to be silent during the deadline and make zero moves.
