The Golden State Warriors’ head coach Steve Kerr said he expects the team to stay relatively quiet through the February 7 trade deadline.

Steve Kerr knows the Golden State Warriors are head and shoulders above their competition. After rallying off eleven straight, the Warriors have easily cemented themselves as the top team in the NBA yet again.

Per Mark Medina, Kerr says it’s “highly unlikely” that the Warriors make any type of deal prior to the trade deadline which is now under a week away.

It’ll be interesting if Kerr’s mindset towards a trade changes if the Lakers trade for superstar center Anthony Davis. Even if they do, it seems unlikely that Kerr would request Bob Myers to go out and make a panic trade, especially given the star power on the Warriors’ roster.

What the Warriors should attempt to do is clear cap space. Shaun Livingston is set to make over $5 million next year while Andre Iguodala will secure over $17 million. That type of money could be re-invested in the stars to keep them content and on the roster.

For now, that doesn’t seem like something the Warriors are very concerned about. They have their squad. They’re a top team in the NBA, and they’re finally finding their rhythm since the return of DeMarcus Cousins.

Earlier this season should still haunt the Warriors though. They lost four straight and five of six. They showed that they’re vulnerable. Even with this vastly superior squad, they’ve shown moments of vulnerability, especially against the Philadelphia 76ers, the loss that snapped their 11-game streak.

However, Steve Kerr isn’t worried, so fans shouldn’t be either.

At the same time, no one is going to be complaining if they bring in a Wesley Matthews-type player either before the trade deadline or on the buyout market.

Overall, expect Kerr to be right and the Warriors to remain inactive over the next few days.
