Should the Golden State Warriors trade for one of these eight players?

After reportedly having interest in Rodney Hood and Wesley Matthews, it wouldn’t be a shocker to see the Golden State Warriors active at the February 7 trade deadline. Who is their ideal candidate though?

Their ideal candidate is a productive, cap space-freeing player.

That means the Dubs will likely target a player on an expiring or one on a relatively inexpensive deal. What they won’t be doing is taking on high-salary, low-impact players that have guaranteed contracts past the season’s end.

The Warriors are already deep into the luxury tax. Signing a player that’ll push that bill even higher for a margin of the production is unlikely.

Those qualifications both limit the Dubs approach towards the trade deadline and could possibly force them to throw in a few assets to snag any desirable player.

At the same time, many of the Dubs potential targets could be bought out following the deadline, so a likely strategy could be just to wait the deadline out and see who becomes available on the buyout market.

That said, let’s dive into eight players that the Dubs might have to trade for, would bolster their second unit and would be a relatively cheap addition to the team.
