Klay Thompson is one player on the Golden State Warriors that has the option to leave in free agency this season. Here is why he won’t decide to leave.

The Golden State Warriors have built their dynasty through drafting and developing talented players. This powerhouse team full of All-NBA players began with two young 3-point specialists named Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson. Eight years and three championships later, Thompson has the option to hit the free agency market this season.

Thompson will almost definitely be a hot topic all Summer long. Teams all around the league will be desperate to add Klay to their rotation. See, with Klay’s supreme catch-and-shoot ability, he is a perfect fit for nearly any team.

Any playoff contending team would love to bring in Thompson as a second or third option. He is a great sidekick and has no personal agenda. Klay will provide whatever is best for the team at all times.

Meanwhile, rebuilding teams and teams on the verge of playoff runs will also take shots at Thompson this Summer. There is no telling what Thompson could do as the focal point of an NBA offense and I think everyone would love to see his full powers be unlocked.

The Los Angeles Lakers, New York Knicks, Los Angeles Clippers and Brooklyn Nets are a few teams that will be fighting for a chance at the Klay sweepstakes. Each of these teams is going to throw large contracts at Thompson and do everything they can to sign him.

Despite this, I believe Thompson will elect to stay in Golden State. His situation in Oakland is as good as it gets. Even in his decreased role, the fans are supportive and appreciate everything he does for the team.

Furthermore, the Warriors will likely end up offering Thompson the max contract. Therefore, money will not be used against the Warriors in negotiations for Thompson. Because of all of this, I think Thompson will stay with the Warriors for many more years.
