J.R. Smith

With over $18 million left on his contract, the Cavaliers will be forced to pay J.R. Smith that amount regardless if he plays for them or not. That said, the sharpshooter hasn’t played in over two months, so why keep him around?

The Warriors would likely add their former nemesis if he’s released from his current contract. Smith is a sharpshooter that knows his role in the offense and can be impactful in extremely limited minutes.

Like many of these players, Smith hasn’t been a highly effective player for the last few seasons, but in Golden State, the open looks change those percentages quickly. Playing on an unselfish team might as rejuvenate Smith.

Is Smith ready to come back though?

We do know that he’d be the same three-point shooting monster if he were to sign elsewhere. Hitting 2.0 threes per game for his career, the Dubs, a top three-point shooting team, should show interest in the veteran guard if bought out.
