Robin Lopez

The Chicago Bulls are certainly not making the playoffs. They’re one of the worst teams in the Eastern Conference, and with an aging Robin Lopez, it’s likely the team could venture to buy him out.

The Warriors could use a Lopez-like rim protector. The Bulls, for now, don’t plan to buy Lopez out, but it’s certainly a situation where he could be. Lopez is averaging just 6.2 points per game on 53% from the field this season.

The 17.1 minutes per game is the number that should concern Lopez. The 7-footer is 32-year-old and won’t be used much throughout the rest of this season. While he’d get sparing minutes in Golden State, he’d at least have a chance to contribute meaningful minutes.

Lopez isn’t an ideal target for Golden State, but if he’s bought out, expect the Warriors to be a contender for the experience rim protector.

The Warriors have a loaded frontcourt so signing another similar frontcourt player to take minutes away from the young Kevon Looney might not be the play for the Dubs. Lopez would be the Dubs best shot-blocker though, so his role might still be useful for Golden State.
