Wesley Matthews

Wesley Matthews played the majority of the season with the Mavericks before being traded to the Knicks where he was then waived. The Warriors may’ve been able to snag him from New York before being waived and eventually joining the Pacers.

Matthews likely joined the Pacers due to the opportunity that is present there. Victor Oladipo went down with a season-ending knee injury, leaving the Pacers with a huge vacancy at the shooting guard position.

The ideal addition, Matthews is one of the better two-way players in the NBA. While not the most efficient three-point shooter, Matthews is considered one of the better deep threats in the league and can also defend with the best shooting guards.

The Dubs could use defense and shooting on their second unit. They don’t have a top-ten defense and have one of the worst shooting benches in the league. They had interest in Matthews but never truly pursued the veteran guard.

Moving forward, Matthews won’t hurt them and they’ll rarely run into him, but on Golden State, he certainly could’ve contributed. They struck out by not snagging Matthews when they could’ve.
