Event: Skills Challenge

Winner: Trae Young

The Skills Challenge is one of the less exciting competitions that take place during All-Star weekend, but it can still be a ton of fun. For example, take a look at the 2006 Skills Competition when Dwyane Wade went full flash mode to beat Steve Nash, Chris Paul and LeBron James to win the event.

This challenge can often be a showcase of some of the league’s best young players. This year should be no different, as Trae Young, Luka Doncic, De’Aaron Fox, Nikola Jokic, Jayson Tatum and Kyle Kuzma will be facing off against each other.

While plenty of players could end up winning this one, I think Young has the best chance. He has all the tools necessary to win. He has the superb 3-point shooting, excellent playmaking and quick foot speed.

When you look at the rest of the competition, no one else but Young has the full package. Fox is blazing quick but lacks shooting. Jokic and Doncic can shoot and pass, but they aren’t very quick. Meanwhile, Tatum and Kuzma probably lack the passing ability.

The only player who might be able to match Young is Mike Conley. However, I doubt Conley will be taking this competition as seriously as a rookie like Young will be. Because of these reasons, I think Young will walk away as the winner.
