Golden State Warriors: Jayson Tatum claims C’s will win NBA Finals. Did he forget about Warriors?
Did Jayson Tatum forget about the Golden State Warriors?
During NBA’s All-Star Weekend, Jayson Tatum, winner of the Skills Challenge, said the Boston Celtics were winning the 2019 NBA Finals. However, he must not be watching the same NBA that we are or, at least, must have forgotten about the Golden State Warriors.
“We’re going to win the finals this year. February 16th, Jayson Tatum said we’re going to win the finals this year,” Tatum told ESPN. This is quite the bold statement from the second-year stud forward.
Tatum ended All-Star Weekend, not as an All-Star, but as a winner in every event he competed in. Helping take down Team World in the Rising Stars Game, Tatum put in work during what might’ve been NBA brightest regular season stage.
But, he may have gone too far with this statement, especially given how the Celtics have played this season.
The Celtics, who didn’t even make it out of the Eastern Conference last season, had a rough start to the 2018-2019 season. While they did rebound, they still entered the All-Star break outside the top-three in the Eastern Conference.
With a respectable 2-2 record against the top East teams, it’s not unlikely that the Celtics come out of the East. Given their excellent roster led by All-Star guard Kyrie Irving, the Celtics have the potential to make moves in the East.
Getting out of the East is just half the battle. They’ll likely have the Golden State Warriors waiting for them upon their arrival to the NBA Finals. The Warriors are the West’s top team at the break. They’ve been dominant, winning eleven straight at one point just a few weeks ago.
Until the Celtics can prove otherwise, let’s not get ahead of ourselves. The Warriors are back-to-back champs. They have gone 8-1 in the last two NBA Finals, and they’re looking even more lethal this season with the addition and thriving of DeMarcus Cousins.
That said, Jayson Tatum has got to chill with his takes.
