5 reasons the second half of the season matters for Golden State
Potentially signing a new contributor
The Golden State Warriors, if they want to, can sign a player without much hesitation. They have a roster spot remaining after seeing Patrick McCaw force his way out of his restricted tag.
Marcin Gortat is a player that could be a potential addition. He’s shown interest in Golden State after being waived by the LA Clippers. Gortat wouldn’t be an ideal addition given how well Looney has played, but he could be useful at times.
Players like Ben McLemore and other two-guard options are available. After all, the Dubs only two targets prior to the trade deadline were Wesley Matthews and Rodney Hood, so clearly they’re in the market for a Klay Thompson backup.
The last 25 games will be imperative to a prospect addition. The Warriors don’t often make moves to add to their roster, so it’d be a pretty big addition if they were to snag a free agent with that last spot.
Potentially bringing on a new contributor and implementing them into the season is another reason why these last 25 games may be important for Golden State.
