The Golden State Warriors’ Draymond Green is making moves!
Golden State Warriors superstar forward Draymond Green is close to hiring a new agent. Green is reportedly close to hiring Rich Paul of Klutch Sports, per Chris Haynes of Yahoo! Sports.
Paul is the agent of Los Angeles Lakers superstar forward LeBron James and has also recently brought Anthony Davis under the company umbrella.
Per Marcus Thompson of The Athletic, one of the reasons Green is switching agents is because of how impressed he has become of Klutch Sports.
"One source said Green’s primary desire to switch agents is largely about being impressed with what Klutch, specifically, is building and what LeBron’s camp is doing as a whole."
Another reason why Green would want to switch representation is so he can expand his adventures that are off the basketball court.
"In addition to Klutch, the ventures of the quartet include SpringHill Entertainment. The television and film production company has created TV shows, movies and documentaries for HBO, Showtime, NBC, the CW, Netflix, YouTube and Facebook. LeBron is also a top dog with Nike and has unmatched endorsement clout. And Carter, according to Inc.com, is diversifying LRMR into other arenas.More from Blue Man Hoop3x champion may come to regret forgoing Golden State Warriors reunionGolden State Warriors: History shows USA may need Stephen Curry for more than the Olympics7 players Golden State Warriors might replace Klay Thompson with by the trade deadlineGolden State Warriors villain pours on more pain to end USA’s World CupGolden State Warriors: Stephen Curry continues philanthropic efforts off the courtGreen has strong relationships already with that crew, especially Carter. Green was previously represented by the Wasserman Media Group. Once this is finalized, it will be interesting to see the reactions by people within the NBA and how it could pertain to Green’s free agency in the next couple of years.
Green will be a free agent in the summer of 2020. It’ll be a huge free agency period for Green as well. While unlikely, he could be due for a supermax contract, and if he’s not worthy of it, he’ll need the superstar agency to help him find his next suitor.
Although it is likely the Warriors will have enough money to give the four-time All-Star a max contract, if they retain Kevin Durant, they won’t. What will the player worthy of a max contract do then?
This will be an interesting development over the next few seasons.
The media spotlight that’s been created by James and Paul could be another reason why the star wants in on the company. It’ll be good for his long-term iconic personality to be with such an agency.
