The Golden State Warriors can’t retain them all. Could DeMarcus Cousins be one of the several on his way out of the Bay this offseason?

There’s no hiding it. The Golden State Warriors are loaded. After they signed DeMarcus Cousins to a one-year deal worth less than $6 million, we knew they’d yet again be the powerhouse of the league.

At the same time, they’re at a point where it’ll be extremely difficult for them to retain all their talent over the course of the next few seasons. Kevin Durant, Klay Thompson, and DeMarcus Cousins will all be free agents this upcoming offseason.

They’ll likely give Klay Thompson a max. He deserves a max and seemingly won’t take anything less. Then, it’ll be up to Kevin Durant. If he can take another cut to stay with Golden State, then Cousins may see his unselfishness and do the same.

While Cousins could certainly get more money elsewhere, he’s yet to prove that he’s worth a max, the contract he was trying to secure this past offseason.

Averaging 14.1 points per game on 42.3% shooting, Cousins, if he can’t get an eight-figure contract, may end up back in the Bay, given the love they’ve expressed towards him.

Sadly, Cousins isn’t the player he once was. But, he can certainly still be a top-three option on a championship-contending team.

That said, let’s look into five potential destinations for the center that’ll be a free agent in 2019.
