Golden State Warriors

Why would DeMarcus Cousins want to leave the Bay? While they certainly can’t offer him the most money, they can offer him a spot on one of the league’s best teams and the comradery of playing with some of his closest friends.

Although he’s struggled in Golden State, Cousins doesn’t seem to mind averaging a career-low 10.9 shots per game as long as the team is winning. He’s not the main scoring options. He may not even be a top-four option, but that hasn’t phased him.

The Warriors can likely offer a similar contract to the one he signed during the 2018 offseason. Cousins decision may rely upon what Kevin Durant does with his free agency. How Cousins finishes this season will also be a factor in his free agency decision.

Many thought Cousins’ stint in Golden State would be a one-year thing. However, Cousins has seemingly loved his time in the Bay. New York Times’ insider Marc Stein reported that a ‘wise insider’ said Cousins would likely field an offer from Golden State.

But, at the end of the day, many have no idea what Cousins will do this offseason.
