Rumors surrounding Kevin Durant’s free agency have been swirling all season. Here is why the Los Angeles Clippers are a potential landing spot.

Kevin Durant has kept everyone waiting patiently to discover which team he will be playing for next season. Durant has been with the Golden State Warriors for three seasons now, but it is completely possible that he will be playing for the Los Angeles Clippers next year.

Since they became a team in the 1984-85 season, the Clippers have been the laughing stock of the NBA. They have made the playoffs only 10 times in their 35 years in Los Angeles and have watched their bigger brother, the Lakers, win 16 championships while their franchise has zero.

Life for the Clippers hasn’t been easy. Even when they had two elite players in Chris Paul and Blake Griffin, the team peaked in the second round each year. When both CP3 and Blake found themselves on different teams, it seemed like the Clips were destined to be a lottery team again.

However, due to the incredible coaching of Doc Rivers and some great ownership, the Clippers are still relevant. Players such as Danilo Gallinari and Montrezl Harrell have blossomed into valuable assets. Meanwhile, Lou Williams continues to be one of the best bench players in the league.

With a decent young core in Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Ivica Zubac and Landry Shamet, the Clippers are poised to be a solid team for years to come. Considering that the team is also based in Los Angeles, the Clippers are an attractive landing spot for an NBA star.

We have already heard multiple rumors stating that Toronto superstar, Kawhi Leonard, is very interested in joining the Clippers this offseason. Could Durant be the next one to make the jump?

Imagining a team with both Leonard and Durant is certainly a scary thing. These two stars could easily be an all-time great duo and the Clippers might have the ability to make this tandem a reality.

We will likely have to wait a few more months before we hear anything notable about Durant’s free agency. But, if KD decides to leave the Dubs, expect the Clippers to be on his list of potential new homes.
