The Golden State Warriors have seemingly been less dominant than usual this year. Could they be waiting for the playoffs to “Flip the switch”?

Since the 2014-15 NBA season, the Golden State Warriors have consistently been one of the league’s best regular season teams. For some reason, the Dubs don’t seem as dangerous as they used to be. Could they possibly flip the switch and turn into a brand new team in the playoffs?

To put some context around the situation, let’s look at how the Warriors have performed in the last few seasons. From 2014 to 2017, the Dubs won at least 67 games in each season, peaking at 73 wins in the 2015-16 season.

This run from the Warriors was the most successful run by any team in NBA history. They broke an NBA record with their 73-9 season and won two championships during this stretch. The fear that the Warriors struck into their opponents was something that the league had never seen before.

Last season was the first sign that the fear factor may be vanishing for the Warriors. Golden State finished the season with fewer than 60 wins for the first time in three years. The team ran into a number of rough stretches and displayed vulnerability in the playoffs, nearly losing a hard fought seven game series versus the Houston Rockets.

Fast forward to this season and it looks like things have only gotten worse. The Warriors have a 46-21 record, giving them their lowest win percentage since 2014. Golden State has actually struggled at certain points in the season as a result of injuries and a lack of depth.

However, with the postseason approaching, many believe the Warriors will shift into another gear and dominate once again. After all, this team is on the verge of a three-peat and has more talent than any other roster we have ever seen.

With five All-Star players, the Warriors are more than capable of flipping a switch and destroying the rest of the NBA. We have seen glimpses of this team at full strength and it was frightening. While the Dubs might not look perfect yet, don’t count them out against anyone in the playoffs.
