It looks like Klay Thompson is on another hot streak. Let’s examine how this has been impacting the Golden State Warriors.

Klay Thompson is a premier shooting guard in the NBA. His consistent shooting for the Golden State Warriors has helped turn him into a borderline superstar. Recently, Thompson has been on fire and it is having a big impact on the Dubs.

Thompson is no stranger to hot streaks. The other member of the splash brothers is always a threat to heat up. At any moment, Klay can snap and go off for a 30+ point game. This makes him one of the league’s best heat check players.

In the 2015-16 season, Thompson had his best heat check moment in which he scored 37 points in a single quarter against the Sacramento Kings. More recently, Thompson nailed an NBA record 14 3-pointers versus the Chicago Bulls earlier this season.

Now, Klay is back at it again with a streak of great games. In his last eight games, Thompson is averaging 27.4 points per game. He is doing this on 43.3 percent shooting from the 3-point line and 48 percent shooting overall from the field.

During this stretch, Thompson has recorded three games of 30+ points. His most notable game coming against the second-seeded Denver Nuggets. In a statement game, Thompson scored 39 points and drilled 9-of-11 3-pointers to bury Denver in a 17 point victory.

The only game in which Klay played poorly this week was against the San Antonio Spurs. The Spurs held Klay to just 14 points on 5-for-18 shooting. To no one’s surprise, the Warriors lost this game.

Other than the Spurs game, the Warriors have a 4-4 record during this stretch from Thompson. It is odd that the Warriors have not been successful despite a dominant run from Klay. However, there might be an explanation for this trend.

In these eight games, the Warriors have played a total of five teams currently in the playoff picture. The Dubs defeated three of these tougher opponents while falling to two lottery teams. It can be assumed that at this point in the season, the Warriors simply aren’t going to put in too much effort against lottery teams, thus explaining their recent losses.

Regardless, it is always a good sign to see Thompson hitting from deep. If he keeps this hot streak going into the postseason, the Warriors will be very scary.
