San Antonio Spurs

The San Antonio Spurs are third on the list.

They wouldn’t be the ideal opponent for Golden State, but they’d be a much easier out than the Thunder and Jazz. The Spurs have a few high-profile and high-impact players in LaMarcus Aldridge and DeMar DeRozan.

What they don’t have is a modern NBA superstar. Aldridge and DeRozan can’t take over the game. White or Forbes are terrific shooters, but late in the game, they won’t be getting the buckets that count.

Without a dominant defense, the Spurs would rely on poor shooting from Golden State and a huge game from one or both stars. For four of seven games, it’s unlikely that those two happen.

However, the Spurs are a league-best 9-1 in their last ten, including a home victory over the Warriors. That said, they’ve proven that they can beat the NBA’s best, but can they do in the postseason, when it counts, is a whole new question.
