Golden State Warriors will rest players and practice their offense and defense whenever they want. The regular season has become merely practice for the reigning champions.
Just when you thought the Golden State Warriors would turn on the heat, they have a meltdown. Are they just inconsistent this year or is it all about caring about the importance of any non-primetime game?
Within 18 days Warriors have had two monster defeats.
The Boston demolition on March 6th was bad. The Dubs lost by 33 and just 18 days later the same scenario occurred against Dallas. This time 35 points and another humiliation at home. In between those was a loss to the belly flopping Suns!
Does Oracle Arena deserve this as a farewell treat? Or, is it all part of a masterplan from Kerr and his stars?
Isiah Thomas from the legendary Pistons “Bad Boys” was at the beginning of the season asked who the biggest contender for Golden State was. An evaluation of his own career and back-to-back championships in 1989 and 1990 resulted in him pointing at Golden State themselves.

When you’re this good and you are the reigning champion, you know you’re the best team in the league. And, if you play your best, no one can beat you! So, the battle is within yourself.
To keep things going, the Warriors need to rethink the regular season. And they have. This is merely practice for them. 82 games to try out different things without totally losing perspective and the top seed.
So far, they’ve managed well.
Playing a full schedule all the way to the NBA Finals for so many years now needs a very special approach. That means regular season is warm up. The real games start in April.
Not many teams can afford to think like that, but the Warriors need to. The season fatigues are an issue, and it will haunt you at the end of the season if you ignore them.
Right now, players are rotating taking a rest and Steve Kerr is getting everyone ready for takeoff. All the stars have had a day off, and Kerr seems to be focused on having key playoff players like Andre Iguodala and Shaun Livingston ready too.
Going nuts over Warriors defeats won’t make much sense. No matter how big they are and how awful they seem.
These players are hibernating until April!
