The Golden State Warriors have maintained the top seed in the West because they’ve been the league’s best team on the road.

While the Golden State Warriors have had a few absolutely horrific games over the past few months, they’ve also put together stretches of brilliance. They’ve been both dominated and dominant since the All-Star break.

The main reason why the Warriors have continued as the West’s best team is because of their league-best road record. They’ve gone 24-12 on the road this season, the least road losses of any team in the association and five fewer than any other team in the West.

That’s their secret.

Being able to win on the road is difficult in the NBA, but the Warriors, who don’t often get too amped up for home games, have proven that, when they come to play, they win. That’s why fans shouldn’t be worried after disappointing home losses to teams like Phoenix and Dallas.

The Warriors are able to be so dominant on the road due to an efficient offense.

They average over 117 points on the road, down just over a point per game than their overall average. Scoring such a high volume is only made possible by shooting efficiently. At 49.0% shooting on the road, they certainly do that, creating one of the league’s most lethal offenses.

The Golden State Warriors have been to four straight NBA Finals and will be looking to add their fifth straight this postseason. Their fatigue has caused them to drop a few winnable games. However, unlike last year, they’ll likely claim that top seed.

The Dubs want to play at home, but as they proved in Game 7 of the Western Conference Finals last season, if they fall a few seeds, it won’t be the end of the world. Like LeBron’s Cavs proved as well, it’s more about being the better and healthier team than having home court.
