The actual opponent, a fatigue-filled route
The Golden State Warriors may be facing their roughest route to the Finals in the last five years. The Rockets, Thunder and Nuggets have all stepped up as legitimate contenders in the West while there’s a montage of elite teams out East that could rival Golden State.

When thinking about what could get in Golden State’s way, people shouldn’t be so prideful that they fail to realize how some of these teams have truly closed the gap. All you need anymore is a few dynamic superstars and an array of above-average rotational pieces.
That’s what Houston has. That’s what OKC has. And, to be honest, it will give Golden State some issues when it comes time to take them down in a seven-game series. It’s already proven to be the kryptonite for Golden State.
They were taken to their first seven-game series since the 2016 NBA Finals against Houston last year. They did that by shooting and defending at the highest level.
That said, if the Dubs have to go against OKC and then Houston just to top it off against Denver before even reaching the Finals, they may be too fatigued to give their best foot forward against the East’s top team.
