A controversial call cost the Golden State Warriors a game. Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant are making sure to express their frustration.

A recent game against the Minnesota Timberwolves has sparked controversy in the NBA. The officials made a last-second foul call that ended up costing the Golden State Warriors the entire game. Fittingly, Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry are making it known how upset they are about this situation.

Post-game interviews were heated as Durant and Curry took to the media to air out their frustrations. Both Curry and KD made comments referring to the referees as the “best player on the court”. This, of course, alludes to the fact that the Warriors feel as if the officiating in this game as biased towards the Wolves.

While arguing about specific calls is an arbitrary thing, it is easy to see that the Warriors were on the wrong side of a few questionable decisions from the referees. First, the potential game-winning shot by Durant was waived off. Then, the Warriors watched as Karl-Anthony Towns was rewarded free throws to seal the game off of a play that was going to result in a turnover regardless of a foul call.

Many are wondering why the Warriors are so upset about this game. But, to anyone paying attention to the standings, it’s obvious this game was important to Golden State. The Warriors are in a stalemate with the Denver Nuggets, tied for the 1-seed in the Western Conference.

This game-altering call from the referees very well could sway the entire seedings of the NBA playoffs. It might sound extreme, but losing this game might have cost the Dubs a shot at homecourt advantage.

It is understandable why the Warriors two superstar players are upset. Curry, who scored 37 points in the loss, was clearly taking this game very seriously, even if it is only a few weeks before the NBA playoffs begin. Hopefully, the team can put this behind them and focus on the postseason.
